Some personal and very controversial views on astrophysics!
Travel faster than light IS possible:
"One second after the Big Bang the universe had grown to a few light years across" (Neil deGrasse Tyson, Astrophysics For People In A Hurry, p26). How did that happen if travel couldn't exceed a distance of one light second!
Furthermore quantum entanglement appears to be instantaneous over any distance - and isn't constrained by the speed of light.
Dark Matter and Dark Energy DON'T exist!
It's been calculated that Dark Matter and Dark Energy make up 95% of the mass/energy of the universe. If there were so much of it around we would be unable to avoid it - yet we can't find it anywhere. It was invented to explain phenomena that we do not understand. The problem is with our understanding of gravity on extremely large scales. Just as Einstein improved upon Newtonian theories of gravity, further advances are needed - not the invention of an invisible undetectable 95% of the universe!
