Kohoutek 1-17
A planetary nebula discovered by the Czech astronomer Dr. Luboš Kohoutek in 1963. It was discvoered by visual examination of National Geographic Society-Palomar Observatory Sky Survey prints.
It is registered on the HASH database as having a size of 56 arc seconds but this deep image reveals outer extensions giving it a true size of 2 arc minutes. These outer extensions around this planetary nebula were initially discovered by the Galactic Planetary Nebula Halo Survey (GPNHS) team in December 2019.
This was a collaboration with my great friend Sven Eklund.
