SkAc 1
This is the first ever colour image of SkAc 1, an incredibly faint and obscure planetary nebula. It is located in the constellation Bootes - which has very few planetary nebulae. It was first discovered as a galaxy in 1992 but was found to be a planetary nebula in 1993 by Brian Skiff and Agnes Acker. Its central star is a binary star system (information kindly provided by Sakib Rasool). The hot central star is about mag 18.5, and the nebula is located at about 800 parsecs (2600 light-years) away according to the Gaia DR3 parallax.
